Our Future Generation is a not-for- profit organization committed to assist our youth in pursuing their interest and talents outside of school and home. Our goal is to encourage, uplift and promote our youth to become better citizens in their communities. We challenge our youth to achieve excellence in all of their endeavors.
Our Future Generation was established after we hosted a softball reunion between two teams which were sponsored by the late Roy Mack Sr. We decided to use the monies profited from the reunion to fund an annual scholarship in his name to a Riverhead High School Student. Since the inception we have sponsored many fundraisers to present awards to many children. We have awarded 9 RHS scholarships.
We sponsored children to go to a church outing in Connecticut. We provided several athletic scholarships ranging from $100- $250 to children to participate in L.I. Hoops, Summer camps, Riverhead Little League, Cheerleading competitions. College advance programs, foreign exchange programs and sporting equipment. We sponsored 20 children to attend the Soul Circus in. April 2013. We recently donated to a child who lost her mother and sister to domestic violence. We provide hats, coats and gloves to the 8 schools in the Riverhead district. This year also to the Southampton elementary school.
We donate to families at Christmas, providing gifts and food baskets. Last year we participated in the Toys-For- Tots program distributing over 100 toys to children. Where we see a need to help we try to provided. Our generosity to provide these things stem from our own fundraising ideas, we have had fish and chicken dinners, karaoke parties, dances, Chinese auctions, donations and monthly dues from our members as well as a few private donations.
